If you forget your bike key, you can use your credit card to get a temporary ride code. Just go to any Bluebikes kiosk and insert the credit card associated with your account to get a one-time-use ride code (don’t worry, you won’t be charged again). Once you get your ride code, type it into the keypad on a dock with an available bike to unlock the bike. To ride again, insert the same credit card to get a new ride code.
Please note that if we see frequent switching between credit card and key, this alerts us to suspicious activity on your account and we may have to suspend your account. It's ok to occasionally use your credit card, but it's best to use the same method most of the time to unlock a bike.
You can also download the Bluebikes app and ride without a key. Navigate here for information on buying and using a membership through your app. You may not switch back and forth automatically between unlocking a bike with your phone and unlocking a bike with a key fob. You will need to contact us to switch between an active key and using the app to unlock bikes.
