There are a few cycling laws all riders must follow:
Ride in the same direction as traffic.
Follow all traffic signs and signals.
Yield to pedestrians.
Walk bikes on sidewalks.
Use hand signals when turning, and do not to weave in and out of traffic.
Never ride distracted. Wearing headphones in both ears is illegal, and it’s never a good idea to use your phone while riding.
NOTE: All users must be 16 years or older to ride a Bluebikes bike. If you are under the age of 17, you must wear a helmet per Massachusetts state law.
To become familiar with biking in the city, we encourage rides to check out a local class! There are public and private classes on topics such as bike commuting, bike skills for women, group riding, and even some specifically about using Bluebikes.
See classes offered by MassBike and by the City of Cambridge.
