If there's a charge in your account that you don't recognize, it might be one of the following:
Extra time fees
A Single Ride covers the first 30 minutes of each classic bike ride. If you keep a bike out for longer than 30 minutes at a time, there is an extra usage fee $0.25/minute.
For Adventure Passes holders, the first 2 hours of each ride are included, and if you keep a bike out for longer than 30 minutes at a time, there is an extra usage fee $0.25/minute.
For monthly and annual members, the first 45 minutes of each ride is included. The usage fee for longer rides is $0.10/minute.
Income-Eligible members receive the first 45 minutes of each ride. Overage fees of $0.07/minute and possible account suspension can ensue if the ride time is exceeded.
Members are billed usage fees at the start of each calendar month and are notified via email if any fees were incurred when their rental ends.
Ebike Per-Minute Fee
Annual members will pay $0.10/minute for ebikes. Non-members will pay $0.25/minute. Income-Eligible Program members will pay $0.07/minute.
All per minute ride prices are rounded up to the nearest minute. Please note that riding an ebike will incur extra fees, regardless of your membership or pass type.
Bad Parking Fee
A $25 "Bad Parking Fee" is charged if your ebike remains undocked and inactive for over 60 minutes. You’ll receive a notification at the 55-minute mark to remind you to resume your ride or dock the bike. If the bike is still undocked at 60 minutes, your ride ends automatically, and the fee is applied.
Lost bike charge
A bike that has been out for more than 24 consecutive hours is considered lost or stolen. The renter is responsible for returning the bike to the system and locking it correctly. You may be charged a $1,200 (plus tax) fee to replace a bike that has been lost or stolen.
Avoiding the lost bike fee is easy. Just make sure that you get the green light each time you dock your bike. You can also set up notifications on your phone, so you’ll be alerted when your ride has ended successfully.
Payment authorizations
Bluebikes uses temporary authorizations to confirm your payment method works and has enough funds to cover bike ride costs.
Authorizations appear as 'pending' transactions in your bank account, but they aren't charges.
Once you’ve completed your bike ride and your payment method has successfully been charged, Bluebikes immediately releases the authorization. However, it may take 5–7 business days for your bank to release authorizations on your account.
